Player Creations

Players create all sorts of things, not least the campaign itself. This section concentrates on things players create and buy with points.

The Points

Players start with twenty points to create characters. To this they add the value of any contributions. As a general rule, contributions are given at the rate of one point for every five of something - trump images, shadow writeups, fulsome responses to character quiz questions, diary entries etc. Contribution points are awarded for completed work. Note that: unlike some Everway campaigns, Years Have Passed in Amber will stoop to the grubby practice of raising element and power scores through experience, so you needn't do all your contributions at once, and if you are the kind of player who needs to play your character to figure him or her out, you won't be penalized for not being able to do character quizzes until after the campaign is underway.

Points can be used to raise element scores; buy major powers such as Pattern, Trump and Shapeshifting; Sorcery and Shadow Magic; minor powers such as water-breathing, regeneration and great strength, Personal Items and Personal Shadows.

Beyond Points
